Josh Kerr secures $150,000 prize after dominating 1500m at World Athletics Ultimate Championship

• The Scottish runner cruises to victory ahead of Nuguse and Myers
• Britain’s mixed relay team earns silver thanks to Henrich’s anchor leg

Throughout Josh Kerr’s flawless season, he has turned the extraordinary into the ordinary. So when the bell signaled the final lap of the men’s Ultimate 1500m final, with the Scot positioned third and gaining on the frontrunner, Yared Nuguse, the ensuing 53 seconds felt inevitable.

And that’s exactly what unfolded. Kerr first glided past Robert Farken to claim second place. Then, with 250 meters left, he surged by Nuguse. The 20-year-old Australian standout Cam Myers mounted a spirited chase, but Kerr calmly maintained a three-meter advantage all the way to the line.
